Near the end of each program year, Book Club publishes the list of books that its 180 members read and chose to discuss within their groups over the past year. You can view this list now at the PPWA Book Club website . Books marked with an asterisk were read by several groups and therefore considered favorites. Click below for the complete lists of books.
ABOUT BOOK CLUB
Our 18 Book Clubs begin meeting monthly in October, November, or January, depending on when the majority of their members are here. Meetings are held in member homes or out-of-doors, for example, in the Park, and last about two hours. Groups meet at a variety of times, Monday through Thursday, in the morning, afternoon, or evening, in order to accommodate the schedules of busy members. Those who volunteer to host and facilitate a meeting often get to select the book for that month. Hosts usually offer light refreshments and prepare questions for discussion which can lead to fun and lively exchanges.
Almost 200 PPWA members have signed up to participate in our Book Clubs this year. Approximately 24 are new Book Club members. When asked why they joined book club, the primary reason is always to meet and connect to other women in our community. Many of our groups have been meeting for years and years, resulting in enduring friendships. This year we added a new group of primarily new residents or new book club members. All of our groups welcome new members . It’s never too late to join one of our Book Clubs!
